Compensation Strategy

It's been a great weekend:

  • I couldn't have brunch in The East Village - but I had home-made blueberry and banana pancakes at East Hills;
  • I didn't win $200,000 or $2,000,000 in Las Vegas - but I did win $200 in the badge draw at Panania RSL on Thursday night;
  • I can't spend that in Soho - but I can go to the designer outlets at Birkenhead Point (Alannah Hill cardigans, I'm looking at you);
  • I didn't do any school preparation today - but I did two coats of oil on the deck and ALL my ironing;
  • It's nearly 4pm on Sunday, and a friend is coming for wine on the (newly oiled) deck, then I'm going to Eliza's house-sit for a baked dinner -
Yep, a great weekend.

Juggling Act

Must have been thinking a lot about Eliza, who left for a 10 week overseas trip on Thursday, when I had the urge to sketch one of her (many) stiletto shoes. As predicted, it was relaxing sitting sketching after being an on-line uni student all day on Saturday. I went back to school on Monday, ready to keep all the balls up in the air, and they immediately added several more balls. Juggling hard and fast!
This weekend I discovered gnocchi - why did it take me so long? It cooks in just a few minutes, is healthy, goes with any topping, loves parmesan and black pepper and tastes good. Tonight I'm going to a French movie (Leaving) at Leichhardt, Sydney's answer to Little Italy. We will have dinner in one of the many Italian restaurants in Norton Street, and I might just order - gnocchi, to see how the experts do it.

Weekend Resolutions

Image: www.etiennecohen.com/GALLERY/gallery.html

It is Friday night after another busy week, and I have some resolutions:
  1. Put up my easel and paint something - anything!

  2. See a movie - I'm thinking the Australian/Lebanese movie, "The Combination"

  3. Do just enough housework to make the place feel good

  4. Do just enough schoolwork to make next week flow

  5. Go out for breakfast with the Saturday papers and favourite man

  6. Maybe - go to the city to see the "Salon des Refuses" alternate Archibald Prize exhibition

  7. Get in lots of healthy food and sourdough bread

  8. Relax with a cup of tea before I go for a dog run/walk

  9. When I do walk - really stop to "smell the roses" along the river

  10. Be grateful that I have a job to wind down from!

SPAM

The word 'spam" always makes me think of Dr Seuss - "I do not like green eggs and ham"..... I do not like spam. I've just reluctantly tightened up the access to my blog due to "click here" posts from weird names saying I have a virus, which I don't - yet! So I apologise that you now have to be moderated and type in those tricky letters, but I had a virus once and it was the death of my hard drive.

Busy weekend approaches, with both the community groups I am involved with requiring my presence ON THE SAME WEEKEND and I still want to do my sunny weekend things. and schoolwork. and housework. sighhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.........

avagoodweekend, as we say in Australia!
