A ferry nice day...

Who cares if it's raining, our planned "excursion" went ahead. We headed north towards Manly, then another 30klm north to the end of the peninsula. This is Palm Beach (playground of the rich and famous) (and us) on Broken Bay. We'd planned a swim at the Basin, a beautiful camping and picnic spot accessible only by ferry, but it was definitely not the day for that! Undeterred, we took the round trip on the ferry then found a cosy pub serving sausages and mash. My kids will have fond memories of picnic days at the Basin, lugging all the gear down that long jetty; those beautiful houses are from another part of Broken Bay - they have to get the ferry or use their own boat to get in and out. I'm undecided as to whether that would be great or a huge nuisance!!

A great place to find your salvation. I'd love it as it both an escape and a community. A bit like the expat lifestyle- you can join the mainstream or not, depending on how you feel.
It would be a bind in the worst weather- I'd be tempted to stay in bed with a hot cocoa.....

Beautiful! I am so glad you didn't let the rain put you off. We need rain, and it's beautiful in it's own right. Things look differently in a shower!

I love Palm Beach too and spent nearly every weekend there as a teenager. The ferry is a lovely way to get there, raining or not.
