I'd heard the buzz about Black Star Pastries & Coffee, a tiny French influenced Vietnamese bakery at Newtown, but every time I'd passed by, a queue was out the door. Today, however, on a sunny spring afternoon, the queue was small and some tables outside were free, and I can say unequivocally, the buzz is true. So forget Clinton Street Bakery NYC, and go to Newtown, Sydney.

I went to Newtown to see 'My Sister's Sister' and celebrate the fact that the flu I've had for fourteen days seems to have finally gone, and the holidays are in five days, and Spring is here. Any excuse for a mandarin-curd donut......
