A Treasure Trove

Yep, those Melbourne alleyways are fascinating. I can highly recommend the 'Laneways' walking tour - it showcases history, architecture, boutique shops, young designers, retro clothing, even a Banksy piece of street art. All things I would have walked right by on my own. The other 9 people were easy to talk to, which was just as well seeing as we had a morning tea break (at a cute little chocolatier) and lunch at the end (at a cute little licensed cafe). They also had to sing 'Happy Birthday" to me and share a little cake at morning tea, thanks to Eliza the organ-iza. Melbourne has such a cool vibe, helped along by the Melbourne Cup fever of  Derby Day on the Saturday. Here's a potted visual history:
