"Natural" Disasters

When I studied Natural Disasters at uni for my accredited science subject for primary teaching, I learned that a disaster is actually natural - we make it a disaster by building/living/being there. Doesn't help the people affected though. In NSW we have been spared the floods, flash flooding, bushfires and cyclones; our hearts go out to our neighbours across the Tasman as well. Apart from donating money and goods, it feels quite helpless to just see the heart-wrenching images and not be able to do anything. I hope the spirit of the collective unconscious does find its way to all the people affected by these 'natural' disasters.

I too feel helpless. I really wish I was on one of the teams that could go to the places that need help. I know money is an important gift, but it feels empty.
