Back to Work
OMG it has been a week already, back to work but with more energy after a great break. The guests have checked out of this B&B and Paull is back at work in NYC. My class are keen as mustard and just as well, as I've signed them up for Tournament of Minds, Young Scientist Competition, Poetry Podcasting, Public Speaking and University English & Maths competitions....and this is extra to the regular curriculum. We're a good team, they are up for it. Not much happening apart from work this week, but I'm going to a play by my friend Malcolm Frawley tomorrow night at the Sidetrack Theatre - let the weekend begin. At last. This going to work thing is getting in the way of my social life!!

We are Family..
My sister, neice, nephew, son, daughter and me....Yes folks, it never rains but it pours, and everyone is here at once. Fortunately, I am on holiday so I can spend time with them all, and cooking is more fun than chore. Today the kids saw the latest Harry Potter movie while Anne and I had coffee, prowled around Ikea, then had lunch (it is a long movie!) Tomorrow is looking like a picnic by the river, because the weather has been blue and sunny. Taking the camera, so pictures to come.

A Sketch-A-Day

After climbing out of the end-of-term inertia and cocooning all weekend (DVDs, newspapers, heater, casserole, soup) I've begun to embrace - the holidays!!!! I've made a resolution to do a sketch every day. To make the job more manageable, I'm starting small, with an A5 Visual Art Diary and these fantastic water colours made in the Czech Republic and purchased ($12) from Art-On-King at Newtown. Sorry, officially they are "brilliant" water colours. They clip together and have a clear lid, very cute, very portable.
Yesterday - Monday - we celebrated NOT being at school by taking a country drive to Berrima and visiting Berkelouw's Book Barn & Cafe. It is a barn, chock full of second-hand and new books, some of which found their way back home with us. Lunch in the old pub with a fireplace was a perfect add-on. July winter holidays rock!

Happy July 4th
Paull seems to be celebrating in an Uncle Sam costume this weekend, according to Twitter. I'm just happy that it is the weekend at last. Whoever thought that two 11 week terms in a row was a good idea deserves to be locked up in a small portable classroom with thirty 11 year olds and one computer for a week. As you can tell, this is just the end of week TEN and there is one more to go. My holiday plans so far include "eat, sleep, coffee". I'm sure I'll get more enthusiastic when I wake up on Monday 13th and realise that I have TWO WEEKS OFF.......I plan to recharge the batteries this weekend and face down week 11 with a "bulletproof positive attitude". Stay tuned...
